Legacy:
The building at 1177 Polk Street has been a fixture in the San Francisco music and media landscape for nearly 40 years now. Our building has a rich history as a local and regional player in California having had life as an ABC owned KGO-FM Radio in the late sixties, to KSFX, the only disco only format station on the West Coast.

During the heyday of the rave and house music culture, the city’s most popular record store resided on the ground floor and was the hub for new music, deal making and community development. The 3rd floor featured a small production team of young upstarts and seasoned veterans who were remixing the top artists of the day and being courted by major labels. Oddly, as if it were awaiting our arrival, the building sat completely vacant during the dot com boom of the mid to late 90’s.

Who We Are:

Formed in January of 2000, M2 continued this legacy as the center of the emerging “West Coast” sound that has since gone on to influence all corners of the globe. Housed in the 7000 square feet 3rd floor of the former radio stations, M2 is a conglomerate that includes:

• music production suites rental
• traditional recording facilities/services
• video, photography and other new media rental space
• electronic music production workshops
• independent music labels
• world renowned Dj’s
• local event promoters and industry insiders

The collective body of work of our current and former members, coupled with our market presence and range of demonstrated skill sets, makes us a unique entity in the electronic music world. M2 respects the foundation it is built upon and is humbled by the good will we receive from our fan base and clients. Our commitment to quality music has led to Grammy Nominations, Billboard Charts, World Tours and many album sales and licenses.
